Who We Are
Coastal Bloom Swimwear was founded in Melbourne in 2019 by three friends who shared an obsession with the Australian coast — its shifting golden light, the weight of saltwater air, and the profound freedom that comes from diving into the open ocean. What began as a small passion project grew into something far greater: a brand built on the belief that swimwear should make every woman feel extraordinary.
We spent our first year travelling the Australian coastline, studying how women move in the water, what fabrics hold up through long days of sun and surf, and what cuts make every body type feel most beautiful. That research became the foundation of every piece we design. We don't do fast fashion. We don't cut corners. We create swimwear that lasts seasons, not weeks.
Today, Coastal Bloom ships to over 40 countries and has dressed thousands of women for their best beach days. But we remain deeply connected to our Melbourne roots — our studio is still on Collins Street, our team is still the same passionate group of ocean lovers, and our commitment to quality and sustainability grows stronger with every collection we release.
What We Stand For
Every design begins with the ocean — its colours, its movement, its energy. We translate the beauty of the Australian coastline into wearable art that celebrates the environment that inspires us.
We use recycled nylon from reclaimed ocean plastics, organic cotton, and eco-certified dyes in all of our collections. Our packaging is 100% plastic-free and our studio runs on renewable energy.
We design for real bodies at real beaches. Our sizing is inclusive, our cuts are flattering for all shapes, and our campaigns celebrate genuine diversity. Every body is a beach body at Coastal Bloom.
Meet the Founders
Founder & Creative Director
A former textile designer from Lyon who fell in love with Australia's surf culture, Sophia brings European sensibility and Australian energy to every design. She personally approves every fabric swatch and colour palette.
Co-Founder & Head of Sustainability
An environmental scientist turned fashion entrepreneur, Maya ensures that every decision at Coastal Bloom is made with the planet in mind. She leads our recycled materials programme and carbon offset initiatives.
Co-Founder & Brand Director
A Melbourne-born marketing strategist and passionate surfer, Jessica is the voice and vision behind the Coastal Bloom brand. She shapes the story we tell and the community we build, one wave at a time.
Our Journey
2019
Founded in Melbourne
Coastal Bloom is born in a Collins Street apartment. Sophia, Maya, and Jessica spend six months travelling the coast, researching fabrics, and designing the first 12 pieces by hand.
2021
First Full Collection
We launch our debut 28-piece collection at a pop-up event at St Kilda Beach, Melbourne. The collection sells out in 48 hours. The Tropicana Bikini Set goes viral on Instagram, and we can't believe it's real.
2023
International Shipping Launch
We begin shipping to 40+ countries worldwide. Our first international order arrives in Santorini, Greece — we cried happy tears. The Coastal Bloom community grows to over 100,000 followers across social media.
2026
New Horizons
We launch our most sustainable collection yet — 100% recycled fabrics, plastic-free packaging, and a new extended size range. We open our flagship studio on Collins Street and look forward to the tides ahead.

The ocean gives us everything — our inspiration, our craft, our joy. We have a profound responsibility to protect it. That's why sustainability isn't an afterthought at Coastal Bloom; it's built into every decision we make.
From our recycled-nylon fabrics crafted from recovered ocean plastics, to our plastic-free packaging and carbon-neutral shipping, we're committed to leaving the ocean better than we found it.
For every order placed, we donate 1% of the sale price to the Australian Marine Conservation Society. To date, that's over $120,000 contributed to ocean protection.
